Bramber class made their Greek clay pots last Friday afternoon based on their own designs. They look forward to decorating them soon.
Bramber Class - Ditich the Dirt
Bramber have been doing a STEM challenge: Ditch the dirt. We made water filters that could be used in Kenya, and worked out the cost of them in Kenyan shillings, converting them to pounds. We also researched how some contaminants such as salt can be extracted from water.
A big thank you to the children for representing the school so well and parents for their support.
Congratulations to Laughlan, Dexter, Kitty and Lilly for being chosen to sit at the Golden Table last week, due to their excellent table manners. They chose Phoebe, Henry T, Grandpa (Laughlan's) and Aimee to join them as their special guests.
Bluebell Railway - Bramber
We had a trip to the Bluebell Railway on 29th September 2016. We experienced what it was like to be evacuated during World War 2. It was an action packed day, we were shown all round the station at Sheffield Park and saw lots of engines. We watched a steam engine being filled with water and saw the coal trucks. Then we were put on the train with our labels and travelled to another station. During the journey we went through a tunnel and all the lights went off! At our destination, we experienced an air raid and had to shelter in the underpass. We sang songs to pass the time. Finally our labels were checked and stamped by the Evacuee Officer, some children did not have a label and were mistaken for German spies – our teachers had to vouch for them! We were billeted to people in the village (farmers, post office owners, shopkeepers and bakers) It was a great day and everyone enjoyed themselves. We are using this experience to help us write an evacuee diary.
WW2 Food tasting
As part of our topic, we are looking at Rationing during World War 2. We researched recipes and some children made them at home and bought them to school to share. We invited Lewis class to join us and we had great fun tasting everything. We had: Ginger pudding Bread pudding Rock cakes Grandma’s Wartime bread Biscuits Eggless sponge Chocolate cake
PGL DAY 4
Brilliant day at the Isle of Wight zoo learning all about their conservation work and about the incredible animals. We then did a long kayak session on the water in beautiful weather! Children now at a big disco with Mrs Campbell and Mr Bacon when he has finished uploading these pictures! Lots of wonderful outfits and questionable dance moves (Mr B mainly).
PGL DAY 3
A wonderful day out! Lots of activities planned for this evening, children (and adults!) having a blast!
PGL Day 1
Super first day, everyone very excited! All the children ate lots and are in high spirits- now off to play some games before bed. Mrs Campbell has a house similar in size to Downton Abbey so is extremely pleased. Her butler, gardener and cook have all been very welcoming!!!
Chichester English work
Chichester class have been creating some fantastic pieces of writing over the last few weeks and all children have most definitely worked their hardest! They will be coming home with their favourite pieces to share with you at home.
Chichester European Championship Homework
Chichester have been completing some excellent homework over the last few weeks based on the Euro Championship! Each child randomly selected a country to support in the tournament as their second team. Their homework was to research and create some work based on that country or football team. Mr Bacon has been extremely impressed so far!
A fantastic afternoon for parents to see the progression in action- with children from Chichester class modelling the methods! More workshops are scheduled for the Autumn term, including an evening time. Many thanks to all who came along. The progressions are on our maths page. Mr Bacon
Chichester Learning Environment
Here is a outstanding example of a Learning Environment. Many thanks to Sue Smith and Chichester Class. NG
building stone age village
Collaborating and problem solving to built a village to accommodate 15 people, 20 chickens, 4 cows and 10 sheep
Our visit to Bulls Farm when we found out all about sheep dairy farm. It was a beautiful day and we had a great walk through the ancient woodland where we saw a badger set.
We visited the K2 climbing wall to experience what it was like to climb like a real mountaineer!
Our hot potato Sleepover
We designed sleeping bags out of different materials that we thought would be good thermal insulators. We tucked our jacket potatoes in and recorded their temperatures throughout the day!
During maths lessons we enjoy going outside to do our work. Sometimes we just workoutside, other times we learn through outdoor games and activities.
Maths in Lewes Class
Take a look at all the photographs of us doing maths. We have done so many different things so far this year.
During our topic on WWII we went to Newhaven Fort to see lots of artefacts, experience an air raid, and see some of the big guns on the cliff top.
Weald and Downland Open Air Museum 2013
